Drink Around the World: At Home

Did you miss the chance to "Drink Around World Showcase" while you were in Epcot?  I know it's expensive, and with the Florida heat you might find yourself too dehydrated to drink as much alcohol as that daunting task requires.

Or perhaps you can't make it to Disney anytime soon, but still want to experience the drink around the world!  For $50, I'm going to show you how to make a drink representing each Epcot nation, for 2 people.

Some drinks are going to be replicas of what is sold in each Epcot country.  Some are inspired by the drinks served there.  Some are inspired by the country itself.  So let's start!

The alcohol you need is:
  • Bailey's Irish Cream
  • Kahlua
  • Spiced Rum (ex: Captain Morgan)
  • Tequila (your preference/whatever is cheapest)
  • Vodka
  • Jagermeister
  • Bourbon
Total, I bought what was pictured above for approximately $33.
Even though the small bottles aren't cost effective, if you don't what a lot leftover, it's the best option.
Also, you'll notice no beer, wine, or champagne was purchased.  Though certain brands and types of these items might be the main thing you get in some of the World Showcase countries (think beer in Germany and wine in Italy), they aren't the most cost effective means of drinking around the world at home, especially with most coming in large bottles or packs of multiple.

The mixers you will need are:
  • Lime juice
  • Lemon juice
  • Salt
  • Maple syrup
  • Coffee
  • Strawberries (frozen are better)
  • Apple cider (fresh or mix)
  • Green tea
  • Root Beer
  • Lemon lime soda
  • Ginger ale
  • Sugar
  • Lemonade
  • Peaches
  • Honey
I assumed that most people have salt, sugar, coffee, and syrup.
Everything else I bought for $17.

You'll also need Sweet and Sour Mix, which I made myself, since you need the ingredients for some of the drink recipes.

To make it, you will use:
  • 1 1/2 cup water
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup lime juice
  • 1 cup lemon juice
Bring the water to a boil.  Add the sugar and stir until dissolved.  Add the lime and lemon juice and stir for about another minute, then remove from heat.

Over the next two weeks, I'll post a drink daily, moving from Canada to Mexico!
